Sorry I’m late on this one! I’ve been under the weather since Saturday, but I’m back now!
Being sick is no fun. Neither is running a fever of 102 for going on three days. But what really takes the cake? Having to take care of your (teething) toddler during all that. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been absolutely exhausted these last few days. I’m not proud to admit it, but I’ve been doing the bare minimum on parenting since I started getting sick.
This morning, I was sitting on the floor with netflix playing on the desktop computer while my kiddo played a few feet away from me. He would come over every now and then, we would blow a few raspberries back and forth, and he would crawl back to his toys. But then he did the cutest thing ever: he crawled up into my lap, laid his head on my chest, wrapped one arm around my neck, and just laid there for a few minutes. This was surprising for a couple of different reasons: first, because he never wants to cuddle when he’s not tired, and second, because he has never given anyone a hug before.
Maybe he knows mommy’s sick, or maybe he’s noticed I’ve been a bit absent with him and wanted some extra cuddles. Either way, it was so nice to just hold him and know that my little guy still loves me even when I’m not at my best. I never would have thought I would be most grateful for my baby when I’m running a fever and nauseous as all get-out, but I really am. I’m so beyond grateful for my #MomLife!
